Gum treatment/ Periodontal treatment

When the calculi deposits are not removed by professional cleaning, the gums can become infected causing gum disease.
The early stage of infection is called “Gingivitis” (bleeding and swelling of the gums, bad breath). Following a gum treatment and proper home care, the gums can heal back to normal.

After

However, if the gingivitis left without treatment, it develops into the next stage called “Periodontitis”. This is an infection in tissues that are supporting the tooth including gums and surrounding bone. The damage is irreversible, but proper gum treatment and home care will prevent further destruction.

Dentist will assess the level of breakdown of the gums by measuring them and by x-rays analysis.

The gum treatment involves:

  • removal of tartar build-ups above and below the gum levels
  • removal of plaque and infected tissue from the gum pockets under the gum level.

The team will ensure the whole procedure is pain-free and comfortable. After care is provided and you will be educated to maintain home care.
